Farewell 2009
Posted on 12.31.09 to Clare, Personal by JoanIn the spirit of celebration, I gave myself one free pass to not think about work and spent the whole day out with Clare. If we stayed at home, I’d be cleaning up or doing some work or even if I did park my ass on the couch and watched TV all day, I’d be consumed by this overwhelming guilt of not productively maximising my free time.
So from noon till about 7pm, Clare and I traipsed from Raffles City to Takashimaya to Wisma Atria to Orchard Ion to Wheelock, then back tracking all the way back to Takashimaya. All this on the pretext that I was going to get a pair of headphones for my dad. Our haul wasn’t fantastic but it was nice spending the day with my bub who was the perfect companion. (She’s all wiped out now though.)
Sometime during lunch, I looked at my little girl and was overwhelmed by a surge of pride that she isn’t that little anymore and that we can do a lot of fun things together.
I’ve said it a million times before and I will still say it again – I’m really glad I have her in my life. And I have no idea what I did to deserve such a great kid. She’s caring, sensitive, reasonable and so loving; and she’s blossomed into this wonderful little person who amazes me each day as she reveals the various facets of her beautiful personality.
2009 was a huge year for the both of us, which had us both learning a lot of ourselves and figuring out our relationship with each other. I can’t wait to tackle the coming year with her.
Happy new year y’all.
