HP Mini by Studio Tord Boontje

It’s no secret that I am a Mac fangirl. HP took a leap of faith and handed me an HP Mini this year, knowing that I’d be won over by the machine’s handy size, despite it being a Windows computer. And they were right. On the occasions where I would not be doing photo processing work, on the go, I bring the HP Mini because it fits snugly in my bag without looking like I’m running away from home.

I only wish that the processor was fast enough to handle the slideshows I create for my wedding clients to play at the wedding dinner.

During that time, I lusted over the Vivienne Tam version of the HP Mini. I loved how it was red and bold, and made to look very much like a fashion accessory.

HP has outdone itself this time by its collaboration with world-renouned Dutch industrial designer, Tord Boontje. It was launched at Bar 84, Gallery Hotel, over the weekend, organised by HP Singapore and Waggener Edstrom.

The delightful, Pat Law.

It features the industry’s first 3D PC surface technology — HP Imprint 3D, which gives depth to Boontje’s design of flora and endangered animals on the casing of the Mini. It really is rather gorgeous and we each received an umbrella with the imprint too! (Not with the HP Imprint 3D, of course!)

Tord signing my umbrella.

What’s best about this new mini — it runs on Windows 7 and I’ve heard nothing but good things about the OS. I really want to try it. And if the processor is fast enough, it would be an excellent computer to bring for my wedding shoots, without adding too much weight to my current gear.

With Tord, and trying not to topple over him.
