Canon Blogger Event
Posted on 11.09.09 to Advertorial, Photography by JoanSome weeks back, the lovely people at Ogilvy invited me to a Canon blogger event, in which they showcased the 7D, 100mm f/2.8L macro lens, amongst many other gadgets. I was most interested in the 7D especially since hearing Maye-E extolling its virtues.
Being there was like a twitter meet-up too, and I found myself introducing me as my twitter nick more than my real name. Hence, keeping to the twitter theme, everybody I link here will be linked to their twitter accounts!
Upon arriving there, Noel (who is really such a darling) from Ogilvy, handed me the 100mm f/2.8L macro lens to play around. I rarely use much macro (although sometimes I wish I brought my 50mm macro lens out more too) and I’m seeing how handy this 100mm lens will be when I do more food shoots.

Test shot of my drink with the 100mm macro lens.
The exciting bit came when I got to play around with the 7D and THAT CAMERA IS FAST! That to me, was the biggest draw of the camera, along with the fact that it has a 1.6x sensor that makes it perfect for sports and events. Don’t get me wrong — I still love my full-frame 5D MKII. Different cameras, different strokes, that’s all. I have requested for a review set of the 7D and am still eagerly awaiting its arrival. Hope I’ll have an event to shoot during the time I’ve got it.
The people I met:

Noel, who took my photo for the Dove Go Fresh Campaign

Super tall Noel and Claudia

Kevin having great difficulty finishing the chocolate cake

Dr Noel and his assistant, Glenn. (Glenn actually likes Noel more than what he shows in this photo.)

Wahahaha! I look so short next to Noel!
Expression on Glenn’s face in the last pic is so -_-”
Nice meeting you Joan! Looking forward to chatting more with you! And I was told you’re amongst the earliest bloggers in Singapore!
Together with Nick, Catherine and all right?
Priceless images Joan! You manage to make me look cheesy yet somewhat pleasant at the same time. The one of Glenn at the very end made my day – hilarious.
:))
Just looking at the smiles… it left clues as to how fun it was.
*wink*
