My Not-So-Little Girl

Posted on 09.30.09 to Clare by Joan

Clare really loves it when I photograph people at home, and she would request to have her photo taken after. I was sorting some stuff out when she asked Terence to take her picture, while the studio lights were still up.

I was working this morning, before sending Clare to school. You know how it is, when you get into the groove of doing something and before you know it, YOU’RE RUNNING LATE! Furthermore, Clare started school earlier today because of children’s day celebrations. We got there just when her classmates were making their way to the hall and I stuffed Clare into the queue then went to her classroom to drop her bag off.

After the initial flurry dissipated, I realised that I didn’t say goodbye to my little baby. I ran back towards the school hall and managed to catch her before she disappeared. There she was, my little girl, walking cooly, smiling and waving at me.

At that moment, somehow, it hit me really hard how grown-up my baby has become. I can still remember her as a tiny infant and she’s now this wonderful little girl who can hold her own. I really don’t want her to grow up sometimes. It’s too fast and I’m not ready!

So sweet girl! Yes, we always wish little kids do not grow up too fast, their sweet innocence can be so soothing to our souls.
