Meet The Stay At Home Career Mum
Posted on 09.20.09 to Parenting, Personal, Work by JoanI was interviewed for this article, Meet The Stay At Home Career Mum, on nanzinc.com. The website is a collaboration between Nanz Chong-Komo (of the $1.99 shops fame) and Theresa Tan, former Editor-in-Chief, of ELLE Singapore.
I didn’t realise I was going to be the only one interviewed for the article, but nevertheless, I was glad to share my experience. (The photo in there’s not of Clare and I though!)
The questions came at the right time: I have been thinking about my work-family-life balance. It’s been nine months since I started the business and I still find it a constant struggle to find the perfect solution to keeping up with the business and the kid. I’m still refining it, and something tells me that I may never find the solution. But I’ve learn to adapt with the various situations.
I have improved in discipline a little and have been working on focussing on my tasks better. I usually need to do multiple things at one go: edit photos with the television on in the background; read with music in the background; play with Clare and reply emails; etc. Since changing my working style to focussing on one task at a time, I find that my productivity has increased and I feel more alert. (Now I wish I could work on increasing my productivity to catch up with the workload, which of course, is a happy problem.)
Hop on over to the website to get some tips on how to “do life better”.
