Chillaxing

So today’s a public holiday. And I decided, after finishing up some work this morning, that I wasn’t going to think about anything else for the rest of the day and to take my camera out and shoot for fun.

My mum brought us out for lunch at Chatterbox, Mandarin Hotel, to eat the legendary chicken rice. I ate it once before years ago, was not impressed. I had it again today, not impressed again either. But mum had some deal or something, so we had free chicken rice. Honestly, give me Wee Nam Kee chicken rice any day. The Chatterbox chicken was dry and the rice not very fragrant at all. And the condiments – chilli and ginger sauces – were nothing much to shout about.

Clare’s new phrase to say when posing for photographs, "Smile, Cheese!"

Clare took this picture of me.

My sisters, Mae and Myra.

Clare telling me where Aunty Myra. No, she’s not trying to be funny here! Hah!

After lunch, we walked around Orchard Road for a bit when I decided that we will go get Clare’s ears pierced. That poor girl, I think she felt more violated than pain because they put some numbing lotion on her ears. Look at this picture of her ears getting prepped — she was probably wondering what her mummy getting her into.

Here, I’m trying to fend off the salesgirl’s pitch to get me to buy for Clare a $200 pair of diamond earrings! That’s absolutely ridiculous for a little girl who would probably yank them off herself, or have someone yank them off her.

And this is me looking I am in way much more pain than she is in.

The little bub cried for a little after but was satiated when we bought her ice-cream. It’s so funny how she does not make a peep when she gets injections, but wailed when she had her ears pierced, with numbing lotion too!

Lastly, I was gifted this gorgeous digital photo frame from Vanessa, Lionel, Carie-Anne, Colin, Dawn and Ron for a photoshoot I did for them recently. I’m so very, very touched by their thoughtfulness. And fancy that — this is the first digital photo frame I’ve owned in my life! I’ve bought a few to give away before, but this is the first that’s personal. Haha! Thanks, you guys, again, so very much.

oh dear! she does look a tad traumatised in the picture where the lady was getting ready to pierce her ears. but in the pic before that, she looked an amusing mix of curiousity and trepidation. and she seemed to be able to sit so still! so adorable…

She’s got earrings! That means she’s like a big girl now!
