Running, Running
Posted on 04.30.09 to Personal by JoanSo I’ve been running a fair bit. Like a maniac. Some may say I was overdoing it by pushing myself, but I’m the sort of who needs to be motivated by results. If I don’t feel much change, I would be bored and would give up before the adrenalin even kicks in.
I ran four times last week and I lost 1kg and a little bit more. Yay! I set myself a target to run every day this week (run 3km, walk 1.5km) but I took a break yesterday because yes, my body was finally tired from all the exertion and I had to deal with a sick baby. And work. And cook.
Brought the kid to the doctor’s today because her fever would not subside and she hacked up a lot of phlegm and some vomit last night from all the coughing. Her doctor took a nose swab to determine the type of bacteria she’s infected with so that he can prescribe the appropriate course of antibiotics and nip the problem in the bud. I mean, hello. It’s been 3 weeks and the kiddo’s not fully recovered!
After preparing dinner and doing some work this evening, I nearly fell asleep on the couch. But I managed to peel my ass off and went for a run instead. I decided to run with the kiddo and OMG! No one told me how difficult it was pushing a 10.5kg baby and her stroller, running uphill for a good 800m at least! I stopped running half-way because I was afraid I’d drop onto the floor and her stroller would run free from me. So I made up by power-walking the rest of the way.
I actually feel rather good from all this mad exercising – mentally and physically. Now I know why people exercise, even though it takes way too much effort to get going at first. I even am consciously watching my food intake so that all this effort does not go to waste! :)
Now to work out a gym regimen to tone up!
