Clare Starts School

Posted on 01.12.09 to Clare, Photography, Work by Joan

The past few weeks have been challenging — being a sort of stay-at-home-mum and trying to get a business going has been very difficult. Clare started school last week, and the first four days was orientation. Which also means that parents get to sit in to help ease the tykes to school life.

Thus, I decided to attempt working from home while getting Clare sorted out for school. It was very difficult because each time I stopped keeping an eye on Clare to focus on work, she gets up to some mischief such as throwing dog food everywhere or painting the house bright yellow with a highlighter. As if it isn’t difficult enough dealing with an overactive toddler.

I constantly feel like I have a hundred things due yesterday and I can’t keep up with even just getting by. BUT. It’s all going to be over soon when Clare starts school proper in a few days’ time, and I can get back to having a routine. [Side note: don't forget to check out my January promotions for the business. :) Thanks to those who enquired and responded!]

This is not to say that I don’t enjoy my time at home with her. Yes, it’s tiring having to clean up her mess every time (which feels like every minute), but it’s been fun and somewhat emotional witnessing my little girl growing up.

School life for Clare has been a lot easier than I imagined so far. She had a lovely time during her first few days because her class is like this giant toy store in which she could play with anything and everything. I expected her to cling on to me but she was running around instead, which I took as a good sign. Of course, we can’t be too sure how she would be like when I’m not around.

School lasted for just an hour for the first two days, with the class split into half. That was manageable. Today, school lasted for two hours with the entire class present. There were very many grouchy children who were tired after the first hour had passed. Clare was super wiped out too and fell asleep immediately in the car after. I was somehow wiped out from being in class with 14 children who each had a different agenda, and were all over the place.

Here are some pictures from her first two days:

Joan,

I was also thinking of putting Jaylen at St Joseph’s Playgroup but the location seems kinda not convi since we will be taking public bus. Think we will have to walk all the way in….

if St Clara at St Mary is still around, then would have put him there…but too bad…

still thinking whether to go ahead with the idea….*ponder ponder*
