Loving My Two-Year-Old

She’s got some funny bite on her head, that resembles a bindi!

Clare had a really tough time waking up this morning. I’m not sure why, but after drinking her milk half-asleep, she tossed her bottle aside and flopped right back into bed. Since her morning personality completely resembles mine, I knew better than to drag her sleepy butt to the toilet and shove the toothbrush in her mouth. Instead, I cradled her, talked to her, tickled her, in a bid to slowly wake her up.

In doing so, I was suddenly brought back to the days when she was just an infant, always in a sleep-induced haze. I used to spend hours gazing at her face, sniffing her, while cradling her in my arms. I’d marvel to no end at how beautiful my daughter is, and constantly gave thanks for this wonderful gift. In some ways, I miss the high I got from being a first-time mum where my entire life revolved around figuring out how a baby works and making sure I don’t screw her up.

My life has been an incredible whirlwind the past couple of months, that I almost forgot how to appreciate my daughter — the wonderful two-year-old who is so intelligent, reasonable, loving and spirited.

I don’t know what I did to deserve this wonderful kid, and I don’t know what I’ve done so far that has resulted in her wonderful personality. But whatever it is, I’m certainly not complaining!
