Chiara and Noelle’s Birthday Party
Posted on 01.12.08 to Clare, Friends, Photography by Joan
Hey mum! Where’s my head?
I was privileged to be asked to shoot my friend’s beautiful daughters’ joint birthday celebrations. I have know Caroline since I was a teen when we were both students of Speech and Drama. We then became colleagues and I grew to really like and respect her strengths and personality. It is through her that I learnt to stand up a bit more for myself (back then I was a real doormat) and man, I wished I was half as disciplined and organised as she is.
Her younger daughter Noelle is a couple of months younger than Clare and it was absolutely cute to see the two babies ‘conversing’ for a bit during the party. The party was wild! There were a lot of balloons and the kids were having a fine time grabbing on to as many as they could. I took back at least 10 which I stuffed in the car trunk and scared the living daylights out of Thunder when I chased him with them at home. We even experimented to see if Dinky would fly with the balloons when we tied them to her collar. (And nope, she didn’t take off as we hoped.)
There was also a bouncy castle filled with many balls and the kids were treated to the craft of a very talented balloon sculptor. Apparently, she can make ANYTHING. You want a dinosaur, no problem! At least according to Caroline! The kids went home with a huge goodie bag stuffed with Mickey Mouse merchandise, apparently, the current favourite cartoon character of the birthday girls.
I’ve been warned that parties as such are going to be the modus operandi for the next few years.
You can view selects of the party here.
