Thunder Wants To Play

Posted on 10.19.07 to Pets by Joan

We were at home yesterday, to spend the day with Clare on her birthday. Unfortunately, while we had grand plans to take her out and do fun things, she was still sick with a fever and an uncomfortable sounding whooping cough. So after a really nice lunch at Imperial Kitchen, we made a quick dash to the Apple store at Wheelock to pick up a new power adapter for my Mac, then headed home. (The power adapter has split open and bits of wire is sticking out. Strangely, the Apple store and the others, are all out of supply of the adapter.)

When we got home, Thunder was in high spirits. I think it’s because he was pleasantly surprised that we were home on a weekday afternoon. He bounced around the house and scrounged up the amputated tail of one of Jerry Jingle Bird toys. He then traipsed around the house with it, but suddenly froze mid-motion when I looked at him. He must have thought he was in trouble because obviously, the tail was ripped off the bird and Thunder knows we get mad when he destroys things.

Instead of yelling at him, (well, the toy had already been thrown away because Thunder ripped the fluffy innards out of the bird a while back, and we probably missed out the tail), I grabbed the camera because he looked so funny, frozen and entirely confused. Hey, why isn’t mummy yelling at me? What’s going on? Can I move? Maybe I should stay still so that she won’t know I’m here.

After I took the obligatory snapshots of his funny face, which probably felt like an eternity to him, I petted his head to let him know that it was ok. Instantly, his whole body crumbled onto the floor with much relief and he proceeded to chew on the tail.
