My dearest Clare,
In the blink of an eye, you’ll be turning one soon! I can’t believe how fast time has flown, and the days certainly flew by much faster then during the time I was carrying you in my tummy. I look at you these days and realise that truly, one can never spend enough time with their kids.
You hit major developmental milestones this month. You took your first steps, unaided! And as if that wasn’t a good enough achievement for you, you go a step further by making sure that each time, you’re carrying something. It would usually be a toy, and a fairly heavy one too! You’re so good at standing up, bending down and picking things up.
You move around the house at lightning speed these days – you’ll either be crawling super fast or you’ll be coasting around with the furniture. Either way, you get a great thrill out of us chasing after you and you’d erupt in giggles and crawl/walk away faster!
Sometimes, when you’re tired though, you’d trip and fall. But you’re such a trooper about it. During the occasional times when you cry, it wouldn’t last very long till you get distracted by something else and you’d be walking around as though nothing happened at all. I’m so proud of your hardiness, and that you’re not one to whine and cower away from trying again.
You’re one very determined little girl. Lately, saying ‘no’ doesn’t work very much with you. When you want something, you’d make a beeline for it. And you’d get highly annoyed with us when you don’t accomplish what you set out to do. I hope that when you grow up, you’ll learn to be more discerning, to know when to pick your battles.
You now have seven teeth. Very cute teeth, I might add. Particularly the top middle two. You look so different now with those teeth, especially when you smile like a cheshire cat when you flap your arms about, either because you’re waving at someone or you discovered a fun new activity like smacking the couch.
You understand me so much better now and it’s really fun talking to you these days because you can respond! :) You’ll sing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars’ with me, along with the hand actions. You give me high-fives! We play passing games with each other. And you now wave goodbye and give me a hug when I head off to work.
I love you so much, my little one. I’ll always be here for you, and I’m glad that you know that.
Love always,
Mommy

Wow, I can’t believe she’s almost a year old already!!! Where does time go…??
Time really flies, doesn’t it? Seems like just last week that I was seeing your ultrasound scans and Clare was “Flipper” with gender unknown…
Thunder even predicted that the baby is a boy! (Which turned out wrong, of course.) =p
Congratulations on surviving almost one year of juggling motherhood and work! :)
