Samy’s
Posted on 09.02.07 to Clare, Family, Food, Personal by JoanSix years ago, I was seeing this guy called Tony whom I liked very, very much. But he left Singapore which left me devastated. The day he left, my good friends Cherie and Kenneth brought me to this lovely place that served south indian cuisine called Samy’s at Dempsey Road to cheer me up and keep me company.
And cheer me up it did. It was set in an old colonial building, which was once known as the Civil Service Club. The atmosphere was lovely, so quaint. And the food was definitely very enjoyable. It has since been one of my top places to go for a ‘pick-me-up’ meal.
We were there for dinner last night and a thought just hit me – six years ago, I was seated there, feeling like my heart was ripped to shreds and that it will never be pieced together again. I could never imagine that six years later, I would be seated there with my family, with my very cute and adorable daughter and sharing a papadum with me. I feel so blessed.
I’ve been on leave from Friday and will be so till Wednesday. Since my mother-in-law is travelling, I figured that this would be a good time to take a proper break to re-group and re-focus, and most importantly, spend quality time with the bub. I’ve been feeling so disconnected with her lately and I think she really appreciates having me around most of the time because she’s been behaving like an angel.
Anyhow, public service announcement: Samy’s at Dempsey Road will be closed for renovations from 3 September for about five weeks, and will resume operations in October. I seriously hope that after the renovations, the place doesn’t loose it’s charm. Anyone who fancies indian food and wants to experience that place when it re-opens, drop a line my way. :)

Ha! We might bumped into each other after the re-opening. =)
it was a long time ago, eh? Funny how times have changed, we have changed but some things remain.
Kierra: Yeah, we just might! Have you been there before?
Rie: You are absolutely spot on.
