Ping Pong Bug
Posted on 08.20.07 to Clare, Family, Personal by JoanThis flu bug has been ping-ponging among the three of us. We take turns getting better, then falling sick, then getting better… it’s really quite terrible. Clare’s fever subsided over the weekend, but came back last night and this morning. I suffered from a mini-bout of food poisoning and I get a runny nose every alternate day. And Terence, well, is just trying to recover from it.
Right now, I have this horrid headache that’s concentrated around my eyes. So. Annoying.
In other news, Clare fell off the bed over the weekend. We’ve been teaching her to climb of the bed properly, i.e., turn over onto her tummy and go down feet first. She’s got the concept right mostly, but is usually too impatient to go down properly and ends up kamikaze-ing into our arms. Sunday morning, Terence was in the bathroom and I was fast asleep (was too tired from shooting an event the night before) when I woke up to a thud and crying. I found Clare lying facedown on the floor (non-carpeted!) and searched for bruises, which thankfully, there was none. She recovered from it in a bit and was back to normal in no time. We think she might have actually gotten off the bed correctly but slipped.
This morning, I found myself alone in bed again, but this time, I saw Clare grinning on the floor and playing with the handphone chargers! She must have gotten down the correct way without hurting herself. Oh my. I am so proud of my little girl but I really need to put her in restraints soon!
When she starts walking, I’m going to start losing her in the house!

If you haven’t done it already, time to babyproof the house. Power sockets, table corners, doors, low standing fan, kitchen etc.
Ha! Clare reminded me of my nephew when he first learned how to get off the bed and the bruises on his head. Time to get a helmet.
=)
hi sweetie, i’m sure your pediatrician already told you this but the best way to baby-proof it is to get down on your hands and knees so that you are at Clare’s eye level. If you see any sharp corners, put one of those rubber thingys. See anything she can pull on (table cloths, whatever), put it away. lock cupboards. anything she can pull is probably one of the most common ways babies hurt themselves. they see a cord, they pull. they see a cloth hanging off a table…pull! and crash comes lamp!
i hope you feel better soon!
