The Chef Is In Da House!
Posted on 12.03.05 to Personal by JoanHaving my own kitchen is the perfect gift anyone could give me. I love to cook. And as many do not like backseat drivers, I don’t like backseat cooks either, unless they give very valid points. However, the kind of people I would very much not like to be in the same kitchen with, are those who feel the need to give an opinion because they cut the onions only in one particular way.
Anyhow, as I said earlier, I love having my own kitchen, having things in a particular way and stocking it up to my needs. My fridge has juice, milk, soft drinks, yoghurt, ice-cream, all kinds of cheese and food for another few meals. My larder has enough breakfast food to last a while, canned and dried foods for the lazy cooking days and various seasoning (except for the herbs which I don’t quite know how to use yet – but no fear, my new cooking books would show how).
Since moving here, I’ve been cooking up a storm when I can. Thankfully, I haven’t been out for work much this week, giving me plenty of time to juggle housework and making meals for family. I have not cooked in ages, I made a little slip-ups here and there, but overall, I am quite pleased that it went down well with my guests. Tonight, I made mushroom risotto and veal steak which made my husband a very happy man.
Everyone’s convinced that this domestic streak won’t last long. Hopefully, not!

risotto and steak! two not-so-easy dishes to cook leh! *applause*
Rubbish, now that you’ve got your own home, the domestic streak will become a very necessary part of life. I mean, maybe not whipping up gourmet meals all the time (You love to cook? Can i come stay?) but hey, with a kitchen like that, why wouldn’t you want to potter around in it?
