Stubborn Mule
Posted on 06.05.05 to Personal by JoanMy soon to be husband was musing recently about his personality traits. His strength, rather, which is patience. He is surely, indeed, one of the most patient person I have ever known in my life.
No one, would put up my lunatic idosyncracies with a smile, a laugh and a hug, even when I am at the peak of the PMS cycle.
However, as patient as he may be, he can be as stubborn as a mule. For a long while now, he had been using the blogging tool, MovableType, to maintain his blog. As I was installing WordPress on my site, I was singing the merits of its famous 5-minute installation, its plug-ins, etc. All this while, he either grunted a response atypical of a person involved in something else, or gave me a dubious look.
(Flashback: when he first installed MovableType, we were in a similar situation where I was going on about the product with him being all dubious about it.)
After I ‘forced’ him to try giving WordPress a go at the site, he finally saw the light. It was as if he was being hit by an epiphany, and that was when he began a true convert. But I must say, I out-geeked him this time: I had to teach him how to use the control panel of WP because he missed out on the fineprint; I had to show him how to CHMOD his files to 777 before being able to change the layout of his template; I even had to show him how to tweak the user settings of his blog.
The past few nights, he has been staying up late till way past 2am, messing around with the template, figuring out the settings and pretty-fying his blog.
My stubborn mule has been proven wrong, once again. :)
(I would gladly take a patient, stubborn mule over an impatient, agreeable mule anyday, though.)
